The Secret Circle

I feel as if most of my recent posts have been TV/book related, so I hope my next few posts wont follow the same pattern. Anyway, I am here to talk about my new love, The Secret Circle.

I recently heard about this from Allthatglitters21 (Elle Fowler) on Youtube. I thought, because it's the summer holidays, I have not much else to do so I'll watch it as I have quite similar taste to Elle. I found the series online, and watched all 22 episodes within less than a week. It was amazing.

So basically The Secret Circle is about witches. Not the ugly witches with green faces and big noses and sit beside a cauldron. These witches are all teenagers and very good looking. Cassie Blake, the main character, moves to Chance Harbor after the death of her mother and there she discovers that she is actually a witch. With five other characters, Diana, Faye, Melissa, Adam and Nick (and then Jake, but that's something I don't want to spoil) they make up the circle of witches, and when bound can hold great power. In the series they over come many problems such a demons, witch hunters and even their own parents. They have to stick together.

One of my favourite things about this series is how well they mould each character. I love Cassie for strength and courage, I love Diana for how sensible, nice and down-to-Earth she is, I love Faye because of her wild side, I love Melissa because of how just she is and because of how she gets on with everyone, I love Adam because he fights for what he believes in and finally, I love Jake because even though he has made mistakes, he tries to make them better.

This show is one of the best written shows that I have watched in a while, it also has one of the best story lines, it's to original and doesn't get boring like others shows can get. Each episode is left on the edge of a cliffhanger, including the last episode in the series, which pains me because they're not bringing back another season. It has been cancelled. This is where I need your help. There are petitions going to help bring another series and I would love it if you could sign your name if you love this show as much as I do.

You can sign here and here.

This show deserves a season two, much more than some of the shows that are going around now-a-days. Please spread the word and get other people to sign! Thank you.

The Vampire Diaries: Season 2 & 3

Okay, I have now finished seasons 2 and 3 of The Vampire Diaries! I wasn't expecting them to be as good as season 1, but I was wrong- it was just as good, if not better

In this season, I have grown to love Damon even more. I think he just gets funnier in every episode and his jokes make me warm to him. And in this season he really shows his loving side even more as well, especially the way he cares for Elenor's life. I read something on Tumblr the other day that made me think about Damon, it was saying about all the times that he's been let down and all the pain that he is actually in. For example he fell in love with Elena and Katherine both picked Stefan over him, even his own father did as well. It's a really touching piece written by diariesofvampires on Tumblr.

It's been a while since I've watched The Vampire Diaries and I can't really remember each episode individually. I just remember that in Season Two we learn that there's a lot more than Vampires in Mystic Falls. As ever, at the end of each episode it keeps you on a cliff hanger and as usual, there's action and romance and everything that makes The Vampire Diaires great. It's hard to say a lot without giving things away. You'll just have to trust me, it's amazing.

Season 3 brings back the enemies from season two, also known as the Originals. The beginning of all vampires and it just so happens they want Elena and the brothers dead, but to keep you even more on the edge of your seat, Stefan has given into his humanity and there's only one girl who can save him. Elena. Now, out of all the cliffhangers throughout the three series the end of this series leaves you on the biggest cliff hanger ever and I'm glad to announce that there is a fourth season coming out by the end of this year. I can't wait to watch it.

I have season 1 and 2 on DVD and they are both lent out to my friends because it's just so good. If you're sceptical of watching it, don't be. Give it a go, it's worth it, trust me.

Fifty Shades of Grey

I am finally writing a review on the very popular book Fifty Shades of Grey. I bought this book on Tuesday of last week and started reading it on the Thursday. I finally finished it on Wednesday night. This book is the best selling paperback of all time, even beating the amazing Harry Potter, one of my favourite book series of all time.

I was very sceptical going to read this book because I have heard very good things about it but also very bad things about it but as it is the best selling paperback of all time, I was going in with quite high expectations. I do like how it gets straight into the story, unlike Twilight (this book did actually start as a Twilight fanfic if you weren't already aware, but it was taken down as it was too erotic so E.L James decided to make the story into a book, or three books to be more precise) where the real story didn't start until many pages in.

Anastasia Steele is the protagonist. And to be honest, I actually quite like her. I don't usually like the protagonists, they're either too stupid or too girly etc but Ana seems to have a lot of wit, which makes her very likable. She's also very smart and quite sensible (although some could argue about that). I like the way she goes about things.

Then we have Christian Grey. The famous Christian Grey. He's portrayed as a very handsome man, but he's hiding a big secret about his childhood that shapes him out to be the man that he is today. He's a bit messed up inside, and throughout the books Ana tries to figure him out and learn about his secrets. He's very rich (and very good in bed) which I think is one of the reasons as to why this book is such a good seller, it gives girls the chance to see what it would be like to date the 'dream guy;' a handsome, rich man with his own helicopter. But lets face it, another reason it's a best seller is because of all the sex. It's an erotic novel, really erotic. The 'Red Room of Pain' could be either your dream, or your nightmare, but it's something different which is why I think it's such a hit.

Overall I think this book is very... average. It isn't awful, but it isn't amazing. I've read better books such a Vampire Academy. However I may buy the next book just to see where the relationship goes and to fully understand why Christian is the way that he is.

Book Haul

Because I recently went on holiday, i decided to go book shopping for something to read whilst sitting by the pool. So i went walking around the shops for some good deals as I didn't want to pay full price for a book which is soon going to get ruined. I ended ip buying 3 books from The Works as it was a 3 books for £5 which I thougjt was a good deal.

First book I picked up was 'Priceless' by Nicole Richie. I didn't even realise it was by Nicole Richie until I got it home. I read this book first and a full review is coming soon. But basically the book is about a rich girl called Charlotte. Her dad ends up going to jail because he ripped off hundreds of people and Charlotte is left with no money and flees to New Orleans to try and get her life back on track. But on the way she has to deal with death threats, true love and holding down a new job.

The next book was 'The Empty Nesters' by Nina Bell. This is about a group of parents whose children leave home and go to university leaving them with an empty nest. Soon enough though secrets began coming out. Secrets are threaded throughout the book, it's a proper summer holiday read.

And the final book was 'Left Neglected' by Lisa Genova. This caught my eye straight away and then I read the blurb and was fully hooked. It was about a woman who has everything, a lovely husband, children, money, a second home and a good job, but she's too blind to see she has it all. One day she takes her eyes off the road for one second and she's left having to decide what she wants.

So thats it, and full reviews will be coming soon.

Egg Face Mask

So the other day I was looking at my skin in the mirror and I realised how dull and horrible it looked. So I went on the internet and looked up some different kinda of face masks that I could possibly use to make my skin look a little nicer. In the end I chose an egg face mask. I chose this one because all the others you needed lots of products that I didn't have, and for this one all you need are eggs and i had plenty of those. Here's how i did it:

I used a bowl to split the egg whites and the yolks. Firstly, I applied the egg whites using a small make-up brush all over my face. Once my face was completely covered I waited 20 minutes then washed off with warm water. After that I did the same with the yolk and waited 20 minutes again. I then washed this off with cold water and patter my face dry. And that's it! Simply and easy and afterwards my skin was glowing and felt really smooth. Try it yourself.

Tag: Ipod on Shuffle

So, I've been ill for the past couple of days and now I feel a bit better but I didn't know what to do a blog on. So then it go me thinking, and in the end i decided to do the the tag: first 10 songs on shuffle. So here we go:

1. One Direction - One Thing
Yes I am a huge One Direction fan! A Directioner if you will. I may even do a post completely dedicated to One Direction soon.
2. Paolo Nutini - Last Request
He has such a beautiful voice, my dad introduced me to him and this is my favourite song by him.
3. The Script - Science and Faith
Not my favourite The Scrip song but still really good. I love The Script so much, and I love Danny on The Voice as well!
4. Olly Murs - Accidental
One of my favourite Olly Murs songs, I think Olly Murs is amazingly talented and one of my favourite artists ever. I love him so much. And he's just so nice and genuine.
5. Taylor Swift - Hey Stephen
Taylor Swift is probably one of my favourite female artists. I have all three of her albums on my iPod. Speak Now is probably my favourite one.
6. Scouting For Girls - James Bond
One of my favourite childhood songs! It's so catchy and the lyrics are amazing.
7. James Morrison - Please Don't Stop the Rain
This song reminds me of long car journeys because my mom always used to play the James Morrison album, I like how he hasn't changed to loads of techno music like many other bands, he's kept it real.
8. Jessie J - Domino
Can't go wrong with this song, it's so catchy and Jessie's voice is amazing!
9. Rascal Flatts - Life is a Highway
I've recenly come to love Rascal Flatts after only just finding them. I'm surprised they never really made it to the UK.
10. The Verve - Lucky Man
Can't go wrong with some of the older songs- I love the Verve's music.

The Vampire Diaries

So, The Vampire Diaries came out ages ago, in at least 2010 I think? I didn't watch it on TV because it really didn't faze me. But for Christmas this year I got the Season 1 DVD and I think it has become my new favourite TV show ever.

Over about 2 months I have watched all 22 episodes. I tried to watch them sparingly because I didn't want it to end! I thought the first couple of episodes were good, but it was by about episode 4 that I was really hooked. At one point I think I watched like three episodes in a day! Crazy.

I love the characters the most in this series. Before hand I had always heard 'Stefan or Damon?' but I never really knew who they were. When Damon first came to Mystic Falls, he was horrible and I thought 'why would anyone pick Damon?! Stefan is so much nicer!' But by the end of the series, I was in love with Damon, he became more humane and his one liners are hilarious. He was one of the reasons I love the show so much. But don't get me wrong! I still like Stefan, I love how much he cares for people and lets face it, he has such a fit body. I think they're possibly the coolest brothers ever to be created, I love the relationship between them, not so much at the start where they hated each other, but nearer the end of the series where they started to protect each other. Very brotherly.

Then we have Elena. I hear they had to change her personality and her looks from the books because she was just too bitchy. I think Elena is so beautiful, and she portrays the part of Elena really well. She's so caring especially towards her brother, Jeremy. Her and Stefan make a really good couple.

But after reading so many vampire books, and watching a couple of vampire shows, this is probably the best, in my opinion, show for portraying vampires. They can't go out in sunlight (unless they have these special rings like Stefan and Damon) and they have to feed off blood, but can also eat normal food too. Then to become a vampire you have to have vampire blood in your system when you die, then when you wake up you have to kill a human. A complicated way, but very clever.

They have the perfect balance of love, high school drama and vampires which is why I love it so much. As well as the cliff hanger at the end of each episode, especially the last one. I am now on Season 2 which so far, is just as good. Sorry about the long blog, but I just feel so strongly about this series, it's so good! Don't hesitate to watch!

House of Night #2 Betrayed

As you might know, my review of the first House of Night book Marked wasn't one of my best. This book has completely changed my mind about the series. I prefer this book so much more than the first book.

The book sets place shortly after the first book ended. One of the main reasons I liked this book was because of how much happens in so little time. It begins with parent's night, where all the parents (well most of them) come to the school to see their children. In this chapter, I learnt a lot about Aphrodite, and it really makes me re-think her as a person, in fact the whole book changes my opinion Aphrodite.

One thing that really does surprise me is how well P.C. and Kristen Cast can change my opinion on a character, in this book my opinion changes on so many characters. Especially Neferet, but I won't ruin that for you.

The main plot line in this book is that there have been some killings of humans around the House of Night. Zoey has a feeling about who does it, but is she right? Whilst trying to solve the mysteries Zoey and her friends have to battle with day to day life at the House of Night, and some big surpirses occur...
It really is hard to give you the main gist of the House of Night books without giving it all away, but I think that is all I can say.

Anyway, I thourougly enjoyed this book, much more than Marked and I really recommend to anyone.
