Evernight

I got the Evernight series for Christmas, and I just finished the first book. After reading some bad reviews on the books I was expecting a disappointing book, but I was not disappointed.

The books is set in the eyes of Bianca, a girl who has just moved into a terrifying academy called Evernight, where her parents teach. Something is weird as soon as she sees the place, it's dark, spooky and everyone there seems near enough perfect. Then she meets Lucas.

This book had be hooked from the word 'go.' Bianca, to me anyway, is a likable character. She reminds me a lot of myself. Then there's Lucas, the rebel who is typically good looking. There are many lovable characters in the book, for example, Vic is hilarious and Balthazar seems like the most kindest person ever. Some grow on you as well like Patrice.

The best thing for me about this book were the two main twists to the story, I actually had to put my book down whilst my mind ran in circles full of questions, very few authors have the power to do this, I say congratulations to Claudia Gray.

Overall a very well written, fast pased, thoroughly enjoyable book.

iPhone

Wow. Never would I have dreamed how amazing the iPhone is. To begin with it took me a while to get used to it, it was all a bit mind boggling at first because I had never really used one before- but it is now the second day I have had it and I can already say that I am in love with it.
Today i used wifi on it for the first time and I seriously think that the internet speed went quicker than it does on my laptop. I was amazed. The apps downloaded in seconds, the internet was loading in milliseconds, it was just extraordinary.
But then I began downloading some amazing apps. For example I can watch live TV straight from my phone. I can watch Youtube videos without them buffering. I can watch BBC iPlayer without turning my laptop on!
I thought the iPhone was hyped up, was nothing special but then i realised what it can do! And it's so easy. I am typing this from my iPhone right now. This is only the start though, I still have so much more to discover.

Christmas

Hey everyone! This is probably going to be really short because I am typing off my new iPhone that I got for Christmas- trying out all the apps as you do. Just want to say I will be updating this blog a lot more as I can now take it anywhere with me, but the blogs wont be as long until I learn how to type quicker. I hope everyone had a good Christmas and hopefully a great new year.
Love G;x.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Mockingjay

Finally I have finished these two books! I loved them, but I didn't think they were as good as the first book: The Hunger Games. I think the books go in order in how much I like them, 1st: The Hunger Games. 2nd: Catching Fire. 3rd: Mockingjay.

Catching Fire. SPOILERS ALERT
This book is basically where the rebellion starts to begin. Peeta and Katniss go on the victors' tour to all the districts and they slowly start putting the puzzle together of the uprising. Just as that is going on, Katniss has to go back into the arena for the Quarter Quell. Through out this book Katniss has to make a lot of tough desisions, she loses close friends and somehow she still comes out very strong. I am trying not to give too much away, but it's hard because the secrets is basically the story! The book leaves you on a cliffhanger, which leads nicely to the last book.

Mockingjay. SPOILERS ALERT
In this book, Katniss is carried away to district 13 and that is her home for most of the book. With Peeta gone she realises how much she misses him and how much she wants him back, so she goes to the capitol, even though in the Capitol the war is tense. I thought this book at the begining was a bit long winded, but then with so much to answer for in the first two books, I suppose it has to be. I love the ending, purely because I love Peeta. I think he is so, so nice, he's down-to-earth and even though he's been mentally, physically and emotionally tortured I think he stayed so strong and tried to help Katniss throughout all the books. I'm glad Katniss chose him, and she's right, if she would have chosen Gale, their personalitites would have become too much and clashed. Peeta and Katniss are perfect together.

I can't wait for the film to come out, I hope they do justice to the books. I have much love for this book series, and although I thought the last book was a bit of a dissapointment, I still love the books as a whole.
